My name is Becki, and I am a bibliophile.
I love everything about books. I love the way that they feel in my hand, the way they look on the shelf, the way that they smell.
Most of all, I love the way that they read.
Stories are an important part of any culture, and I want to drink up the culture of books.
I just love books.
I've been reading all of my life, various genres from mystery to horror to fantasy, to contemporary fiction and classics.
Books, and the stories that they contain, make the world go 'round.
I love books.
I don't get much opportunity to talk about them in my real life. The members of my family all like different things in their books. For me, I read mostly young adult fiction. My girlfriend reads mostly romance. My husband reads nonfiction in various genres. My mother loves memoirs and biographies.
The one thing we all have in common is our mutual obsession with books. There are a lot of books in my home.
There are other things that I love. Some of those things I love nearly as much as I love books.
I enjoy writing. This blog is only a portion of the writing that I do. I also microblog my feelings about living with post traumatic stress, and I'm currently working on branding a blog about overcoming depression and living life to its fullest.
I love horses. They are a passion and an obsession which I haven't been able to commit to in years due to financial trials. Soon they will be part of my life again, and I cannot wait. (If you want to send me books about horses, I'm excited to read them!)
I enjoy knitting and crocheting as a hobby and for charity. Currently I have a charity project I'm working on knitting scarves for homeless shelters. I'm also putting together some patterns to begin sewing, knitting, and crocheting stuffed toys for children in homeless shelters to give people hope.
I believe in paying it forward, and that this is an important concept. And I believe that one person can make a difference in the world. Why shouldn't that be me?
I am also losing my hearing, and have had hearing difficulty since I was a young child. I do not know American Sign Language but I'm learning. I'm also semi-proficient in French, am getting there in Dutch, and am still learning Italian. I love language, and am obsessed with culture.
